How can you determine the year model on Kubota L4200

The engine serial number: first digit gives the year of manufacture for later models years as follows:

1997 - V
1998 - W
1999 - X
2000 - Y
2001 - 1
.
.
.
2009 - 9
2010 - A
2011 - B

Does this appy to bx series?

I have a bx24 serial number 58xxx that I was told by the dealer was a 2007 model. By the listing above would it be a 2005? Not sure when kubota changed over from bx23's to 24's.

I checked it against the serial # on my 2005 BX1500 and it was correct as well as my L4400HST.:thumbsup:

I overlooked (miss read) He said the engine serial number. I was looking at my tractor serial number. My mistake.

This is interesting. The fella I bought my tractor from was selling it for his dad, and he said it was 1997. According to the manuals and the website, it's a 2001, and the engine serial code confirms it.
