Yes to your first paragraph. Moss gained that "Epic Contributer" title because of his 38K+ posts, and is a moderator also. The two aren't inclusive.

PS.; Welcome to TBN.

MI and WI turkeys are a bit nuisance. All over, unless you are hunting them.

Like hitting a bowling ball on the road. They fly up at the last second, so they hit the windshield.

Fairly new here but, am I right in thinking that MossRoad is actually a Moderator, saw something that may have been deemed "crossing the line", and "deleted" same?

Are "Epic Contributors" actually Moderators.

Just like to know who I am dealing with if and when.

Thanks.
Just a "FYI"; if you go to the menu for each forum and look down in the bottom of the page you will see who the moderators are.

For Rural Living it looks something like this, except the highlight is blue;

After this winter I think your windshield will be ok for a year or two. Cold and a lot of snow. I take back roads to town and the ones I see are not looking very healthy.

Thanks to all who responded IRT my Moderator status question. The "trail" to the Forum menus was useful.

Be safe and be well.

I haven't read through all replies, but when I first bought my place all I could afford was an MTD 5hp tiller. I still have it and it works great.
The main question is how much area? Our garden spot was I'm guessing 50ft x 200ft, close to well house for watering.
I just tilled, then hand raked sod and rocks out. Then got a couple loads of composted cow manure and tilled that deep as I could. Leaves we raked up added also and tilled in. I'm far from expert but you can get a lot out of a small plot if it's fertile and watered properly.

I haven't looked at them closely. But not sure I am worried.

WI did not really have a bad winter. Mild until end of January. I it just that most people are whiney. Cold weather was brief too. Nothing like long cold snaps we had a few years ago.

I haven't seen a turkey up close, and not an expert, but I am not expecting anything from this winter. Especially as far south as you are.

I'm in the same general area as Chaos and fruit trees are very hard to grow and keep here. The deer graze and rub on them when small and the bears climb them for the fruit when they mature. Pretty frustrating when you finally get some fruit the bears break down the branches.

And we've had a number of deer feeders busted up by bears. One tore the motor and blade out of the bottom. And the more bears you attract the fewer deer you get.

I just tried frost seeding five test plots with a variety of no till clover and grasses. I'll report back on progress should spring ever arrive.

I think the winter was worse than you know. The DNR has a "severity index" that assigns points for cold and snow. It was "moderate" up until January but was inching up towards "severe".

It started early in some areas. I had snow coming in my truck early November. But then it settled. Kinda cold in November. But December and January sorta mild. We had 2 cold weeks. Lots of whiners. Lower WI barely any snow until mid/late January.

Unless we get some big snow, early spring. Picnic tables already showing, month earlier than last year.

In snowbelt we got hit hard in short time. Big banks. Warming up early. But over all, I don't rate this winter as big deal.

I am not the DNR, but I spend time out side for fun and work. Plus I pay attention, and have good memory. Look at last year. We got one storm in April and everyone went one and one about bad of winter it was.
