I have an off-road farm dump trailer. It uses a standard drawbar setup to connect to the tractor drawbar. I hook the trailer tongue to the tractor drawbar, insert a pin, and go.

I want to be able to reposition the trailer from one spot to another using my truck. So I need some way to attach the trailer to the truck, except it doesn't use a standard ball hitch. I think I need some sort of drawbar adapter that I can slide into the truck's 2" receiver hitch, and will prove a "drawbar" that the trailer will attach to.

I've looked around and can't find anything. Do you know of something that might work?

I just use a regular ball mount without the ball.

That Clevis Trailer Pin Mount is perfect. I will get one at Harbor Freight. Lou, I did consider using the regular ball mount but I wanted some extra stability. I'm sure at some point I will be dragging a trailer full of wood on a slope, etc. so a little more stability would add peace of mind.

This load is on a ball mount drawbar with either a 1" or 7/8" draw pin.

Is your trailer a clevis like the other drawbar mentioned, with 2 ears, one that goes above your tractor draw bar and one under it.
One item that can be a problem with two double clevis's is the limited movement in an up and down angle, the 4 holes will bind with any up an down travel.
And the larger the draw pin the faster the bind happens. Only one double clevis to a single draw bar.
Heavy farm trailers to very large tractors the tractor drawbar is a clevis to ring hitch on the wagon or trailer.
Normal tractor drawbars are a single bar, with the wagon or trailer hitches having a double eared clevis.

Yes the trailer has 2 ears on its hitch end.

Then I would avoid the drawbar with two ears, it will bind up with up or down travel.
Enjoy

...or even side to side movement too.

This is the way to do it. We towed farm wagons this way all the time.

I bought a spare trailer mount (no ball) at Tractor Supply yesterday. Got one with a 3" drop which I will probably instead use as a 3" lift. Will try it out soon.

My question with those is about whether or not the holes will line up.

Getting lined up and the proper distance can be frustrating, we have adjustable tongues on most of our wagons, the few that don't we like to use two people otherwise a lot of in and out of the truck.

I connected it up today. Worked fine. The pin is a little sloppy going through the trailer mount, but nothing alarming. Probably helps a bit as things flex.

My trailer is only a 2 ton, so I can move it up and around (sort of) to be hitched up.

Thanks again.

If you have a piece of chain laying around you could add it with a threaded link if you're concerned about it possibly disconnecting.PPL_8056035.jpeg
