I have always had an absurdly stiff throttle lever on our 2810 gear. so I finally got around to fixing it.

Take off steering column covers. 3 bolts on the bottom, 2 bolts on top. They are #3 phillips head.

Unplug the PTO button so you can get the panel out of your way:

Here can can see the spring controlling the throttle lever tension. 2 bolts hold it to the steering column. remove those.

assembly removed and ready to work on. you can see how the spring is fully compressed!

here it is dissembled:

Here it is back together minus one washer:

And if your throttle was to lose, you can add a washer assuming your large black wear washer was still in good shape.

When I reassembled I added some dielectric grease to the PTO plug. Keeps out moisture and prevents corrosion.

I also used some anti seize on the bolts since one of mine was rusted so tight it broke off and i had to drill and tap the nut it screwed into.

Good post !! I'll have to get into my 4110 and tighten 'er up a little. Mine was always stiff for years too but now mine won't hold steady while cutting the grass - the throttle drifts down very slowly and I have to pull it back up every so often while cutting, a little irritating at times. Have been planning to take a look at how it operated but now I know !!
