Most manufacturers list the amounts used by thier machines; check your manufacturer website.
For the shower, the same thing. Most have flow info, especially the low flow models. Otherwise, turn it on normally, fill a 5gal bucket while timing it. From there you can do the math to see how many gpm it flows.

If can't nail down the right numbers or want it real close, you can put meter in. The last mechanical meter that I bought was about $60. You could more than likely get a non-industrial version for less money.

Hold a bucket underneath your shower head for 15 seconds. Determine how much water you collected (with measuring cups, pitchers, etc.) and multiply that number by 4 to tell you how much you use per minute. You should then be able to figure out the rest from there.

When we built the new house we put in a Whirlpool "Duet" front load washer and dryer. They are supposed to use less water than a conventional washer. I'll have to dig out the manual and see what the usage is.
