How much trouble would it be to switch 4x4 to 2x4 and vice versa.

I have a G244 & G194 Bolens(Iseki) and am considering getting a G272. The G244 has a FEL and I am considering switching the front wheel mechanisms and then also putting the FEL on the G272(which would now effectively be a G274).

Has anyone ever tried something as crazy as this?

It might be easier to just switch the engine. If you do the axle swap you'll need
to swap transmissions also because you will also need the output shaft
from transmission to front diff as well as the 4 wheel drive engagement
lever and 4 wheel drive gear set in transmission.
