What??? Plowing in "wet" soil increases the condition called plow pack which is a compacted layer of soil just below the plowing depth which decreases water migration and increases ponding from rain. As well as hard clods that need to be broken up.
Yep. It’s the worst thing you can do in a clay soil. Been there, done that. Never again. You just have to be patient until the soil is the right moisture content before working clay ground.

Agreed. Some Clay Soils are either snot or concrete. Somewhere in between is what you need.

I had thought about that but if it works or does not work the water has to come out for the winters -25 nights. I do not think I could get them dry.
Not so much that a gallon of antifreeze added to the residual wouldnt protect.

Well, when I bought this new to me tractor one wheel was filled the other not. Every time I drove my tractor up my crushed stone driveway the empty wheel would spin all the way up, the filled tire did the work. I had to use the diff-lock pedal to keep the empty wheel from spinning
After I had it filled with WW fluid like the other, neither tire spins going up my driveway. That was with only the FEL on the tractor.

I know its doesn't answer the question, but I recently saw an Old IH video; and it said, a properly weighted/balanced tractor should pull 135#/pto HP, of static, dead load.

I'm not sure ballast matters if your tires aren't getting traction. Do they make R14's for your size tractor? Even R4's would be an upgrade over Turf Tires. Turf Tires are specialty tires, IMHO.

When I read 'Snow Tires' I assumed you meant Turf Tires. I don' tknow if they'd be any good at all working the dirt. And you don't want to mess with putting the R1's back on. Can't say I blame you for that one.

You could always spring for the rims and tires you want/need and sell your existing setup.

Just spit-balling, that's all. Feel free to ignore me :)
