How much 2 cycle engine oil can be safely added to diesel

also just thinking last I knew ATF had friction characteristic to it. the reason oil does not work in auto transmission. seems that ATF could be worse to use.

Where do you get the info ULSD "almost certainly does" have "Bio" in it?
If you have a source for that info please tell us....I'd love to have 1-2% bio in my diesel fuel, but don't see that happening unless I add it, and I do when I have it. I pick up some B99 and use it as an additive, problem is I can only get it 150 miles away, in Asheville NC. When I don't have it, I use 2 stroke oil. BTW the B99 does NOT store well, starts smelling a little rancid after a few months.

While "most" states do not have a Bio-D mandate, states that sell a lot of fuel do, so the refiners are ramping up production.

I have not seen a mandate to display "Bio-Diesel" on any pump with it, but it SHOULD be required as should Cetane (N+I/2) as with Octane.

Bio-Diesel sale is generally concentrated in high population density areas, or ones with PM pollution challenges. *Most* citizens of the US have BD available to them, but it may not be at their normal filling location.

I picked up 3 16 OZ bottles of WM TCW3 two cycle oil so I reviewed this site as to how to use it in diesel fuel. I had also forgotten some additives seem to be harmful for lubricity.

Zombie thread, but still informative. I was surprised to see that people burn ATF fluid for fuel; I used to add a bit into the crankcase of old engines to clean and rejuvenate them. Sometimes it worked, other times it cleaned all of the crud out which was the only thing keeping them from falling apart.

I use 3.2 ounces of 2 cycle marine oil per 5 gallon diesel fuel can when I fill them. I think that works out to about 200:1 ratio. Works for me summer and winter here in NC in my old 861D Ford. I read if temps get below 20 degrees you should use anti-gel, but I've been fine just using the 2 cycle marine oil as an additive as temps rarely get below that here for very long at a time.

A diesel mechanic that I trust uses ATF at every fill-up in his Ford 7.3 diesel. I have not seen research on ATF added to diesel but the results on used motor oil was negative. Last night I printed out the results of this very old research to take to him today.

Interesting thread and something I had not considered before. But, my tractor has a Cummins diesel and when I was doing some reading, Diesel Clean & Cetane Boost was the only thing recommended by Cummins so I bought some. My rough math, the bottle is designed to treat 100 gallons of i remember right, told me to put 1.5 oz in 5 gallons so that's what I've been doing. Doesn't cost near what the below says though.

And make sure that whatever you put in will not hurt the diesel particulate filter (if your tractor is big enough to be equipped with one of those).
