How many still have a Landline in their home?

In my area the copper is almost useless, DSL is not available, no cable, no fiber.
Verizon can't keep a landline working decent 10 days out of a month all the pairs are patched and cobbled.
So minimal cell, slow hot spots, satellite or wireless isp's.

We have a landline and probably always will. I like being able to look up an acquaintance or old friends number and giving him a call. It makes it easy to give out my number. I just say "I'm in the book".

The fun part is watching some peoples expression as they say "what book?"

Still got landline, phone and ADSL on it.
Around here many people on landline are runing ADSL only, no phone. Recently fibre arrived so the telco is encouraging people to migrate.

Dropped landline last year. Never could get DSL, not enough circuits supposedly.

Replaced Dish satellite internet with AT&T fixed wireless. 10x data for same price as satellite.

Yes we still have a land line for DSL, Fax, and Wi Fi Calling through the cell phones.

Does everyone remember the Verizon commercials; "Can you here me now", "Can you here me now", Can you here me now"...

That's why we still have a land line, poor reception due to trees and mountains.

Note, you cannot port a landline number to Google voice, it says you can only port cell numbers.. so if you want to keep your landline number, get a cheap cell plan (like Total Wireless for example) and get your number ported there, then you can port it to Google Voice...

Losing our landline number of 20 years would be a major problem. Hundreds of other people and businesses would have to be contacted. A PITA for sure. I have no idea what Google Voice is and have no desire to find out. I avoid all things named "Google". :thumbdown:

It is amazing how much of the Empire (Vampire?) State is a technological desert. A lot of Eastern Dutchess and much of Columbia County is the same.

Very true and the further north and or west you travel the worse it gets.
