So the 450 will take off lug nuts? Is it adjustable for torque? Are you really happy with yours?
My 3/8 snap on will take off my 1/2 fords lug nuts. If I install a 18 volt battery, it can remove 3/4 ton truck lug nuts if I really wanted to.

1/2 cordless impact are great for lugnuts !!! They won't let you down.

3/8 cordless are just so great for replacing battery's on trucks, backhoes and tractors, and also used similar as a air ratchet for just UNLTIMITED smaller jobs in tight spaces. Save your hands !

Is it adjustable for torque?

Milwaukee's new FUEL line lets you set 2 or 3 different torque modes depending on which model. With Makita I believe adjustable torque settings are only found on the 1/4 hex impact drivers right now.

I use the 3/8 with the compact Li-ion battery as a cordless socket wrench.

I use the 1/2 for high torque wrenching.

I get the refurbished batteries, with higher capacity cells, here: Products - currentbatteries.com

A previous employer gave me a kit with a Porter Cable 1/4" 18v impact driver (Model PC1800ID), a 18v drill and a flashlight as a going away present a couple of years back. The impact driver is now well worn, the drill still looks like new and the flashlight is on its 3rd bulb.
I wouldn't be without an impact driver now.

it has no adjustment for torque, just the forward and reverse switch that is a little clumsy while holding the tool, but you get
used to it. i am happy with it, and if it doesn't work i break out the 24" breaker bar. it's hard to get in tight places,
like brake caliper bolts etc. so far i've been thrilled with the whole set. my only issue is the grinder can eat up a
battery faster than the charger charges the spare.

I have a 1/4" and 1/2" Ryobi 18 volts and I work on Tractors out in the field with them and they both handle very well. Real time savers.

I have went through 2 of the craftsman 1/2 drivers over the last 5 or 6 years, currently on my 3rd. Great for away from the garage. Depending on the job I usually break out the air for disassembly it's rated for 1200 ft/lbs were as the craftsman is only 350 range. Biggest thing is you want lithium battery's they keep most of there torque till there dead were the nicads only give the full torque for the first couple. I used mine for many transmissions out and in, couple motors too. Can't be beat when going to pull a part.

Wow now isn't this thread a blast from past! :D

Gezz since I last posted I have the 2763 and the 3 speed 2654B 18V powered impact wrenches. The 2763 is a beast and the smaller 2653 is so handy being a true impact wrench with a square anvil eliminates any snapping off of a socket adapter (the ultimate weak point when using a 1/4 hex driver for socket work).

The M12 series tools I made a post about earlier in this thread still are my everyday favorites tools and Milwaukee now has a 90 degree impact driver in a 12volt ahh...but no 3/8 anvil drive YET! :confused2:

And about a 50% increase in overall torque than the M12 3/8 or 1/4 drive ratchet.

There has been more expensive and not much more powerful 2 speed 18 volt models in both hex and 3/8 anvil with a repositionable head feature for while now.

Doesn't look like the drive head is movable with the M12. :confused3:
