Pies, tarts, chocolate cream pies- could eat them forever. I like tart fruits.
Pumpkin pie- I work up to it! Squash- can't do it, though I did once manage to eat a bit of buttercup squash drenched in maple syrup!

I never planned to bake bread- I was content to buy crusty breads already made. Then I cut out salt/sodium from my diet and noticed one day that the bread sold all contained salt. So now I bake my own without salt. Only bread I eat now.

Maybe you could incorporate squash into your bread making...pumpkin bread is a popular one, as is a zucchini bread. Very moist

Hey I know what...CHOCOLATE zucchini bread! :D

My old factory crowd had always passed around a recipe for an Apple bread that was just awesome.

Here's another of my favorite recipes. I cooked these also for the Elks and they were well received. I have had several compliments to the effect that "those are the best stuffed peppers I have ever eaten".

“Stuffed Bell Peppers”

4 medium Bell Peppers

1/2 c. chopped onion

1/2 c. instant rice

1/2 teaspoon each oregano & basil (I usually use a bit more)

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder (or to taste; more if desired)

1/4 teaspoon pepper

2/3 pound ground beef

1/3 pound sausage (I use Jimmy Dean "sage")

1 - 15 oz. diced tomatoes

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Cut off tops of peppers; clean out seeds. Boil in salted water to cover for 5 minutes. Remove peppers,

and let drain upside down on paper towels. Salt inside of peppers, arrange in baking pan. In large

skillet, brown and crumble ground meat, add onions and cook for 5 minutes, or until onions are tender.

Stir in tomatoes, rice, worchestershire sauce, spices, pepper and water, if needed. cook covered for 15

minutes or until rice is done. Taste; add some salt if needed. Spoon mixture into peppers. Place any

left over mixture around peppers in dish. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and 1/2 cup of cheddar. Bake

at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from oven, sprinkle with remaining cheddar cheese; let stand

for 5 minutes.

Best served with toasted garlic bread.

Yeah, but no stores on the Island that carry it.

There is only one store in my island and they don't carry much more than eggs, milk and peanut butter.

I'll look in the Mexican food section of a supermarket. I did notice that I can order a case of 12 for $30 from Amazon but I suspect half of that is shipping.

Shoot I make stuffed peppers all the time when I am harvesting peppers from my garden.

The elongated cubanelles make a great stuffed pepper too...

One of my favorites dishes! :D

I also grow green Chiles and when I buy seeds I look for the largest producing ones

So then you can stuff them with cheese, oil and roast on the grill Yum!

I have a lot of food photos of dishes I have made.

Many of my friends are food bloggers. chefs, and write cookbooks we often share great ideas

I believe they run a little more than a dollar a can here; the Hatch brand is a bit cheaper. Looks like .99 cents at Target...

They use to carve Rutabagas too! :D

and re Tom Sellers in the immediately preceding post. Where I grew up (between the Roman Wall and the more modern England/Scotland border) nobody grew any sort of pumpkin or squash. I was at least in my 20s, possibly 30s before I saw one. So we made Jack Shine the Miggys from bagies. Hard work and many a stabbed hand.
