10 years of heating with an outdoor boiler, and every year I have gloves get caught on the wood and into the boiler it goes. Those things go up in flames quickly as you look in there and feel like an azz. Here is the good news, so far this year I haven't lost any. I hope I am not the only one this ever happened to, or I would REALLY feel like an azz. Just sharing some stupid things that happen. WELCOME SPRING!

I have my "hydraulic" gloves. After a set of gloves gets worn, I use them to hook and unhook hydraulic hoses. After six months or so of that, they go in the fire. They have some serious BTUs at that point.

Haha! I have had a pair of gloves for years I only use when handling the diesel. They are kept right there by the fuel and funnel...bet they have a pretty good BTU rating by now too!

It makes me sad to burn my gloves. Lately I like those brown jersey type gloves but it doesn't take more then a few hours of heavy work to wear holes in them. My Dad used to get garbage bags of cotton work gloves from his company. They had been washed, repaired with iron on patches and then "REJECTED"!

Nothing sadder then seeing a glove or gloves lying on the road, obviously having fallen off of some vehicle. I have often thought that work gloves need those strings on them, we used to have as a kid.

Yeah I've had few go in the boiler as well. I always thought it was a good judge of a man by how many gloves he goes through in a year.

Or have a memory like mine :/

I agree that at work hundreds of good gloves are tossed a week... They use them for a day and toss, dumb to me but metal automotive supplier stuff (parts) have sharp edges and the cut res gloves gets wore out bad but still good for farm use. I have "Rescued a few pairs" & should go after MORE as I see em tossed about.

Yeah I've had few go in the boiler as well. I always thought it was a good judge of a man by how many gloves he goes through in a year.

Every fall I would buy a six pack (no not beer) of gloves from the local farm store and hope to get through the winter, but sometimes there is a lot of stickys on those logs and the next thing you know, there goes another glove. My wife who seldom loads the boiler had it happen and was embarrassed to tell me. I told her not to fret Iv'e done it a dozen times. I will admit I never thought of soaking them in diesel, just in case they fly off your hand into the boiler. Hey, if you're going to burn your gloves, you might as well get some heat out of it.
Enjoy the day,
Bill

OMG! This is so funny. About a month ago I was throwing a log into the outdoor wood boiler and my glove went in first and landed directly on the coals and then the log landed on top of the glove. I stood there sort of dumb founded for a bit and then just laughed. I had no idea it had happened to anyone else! LOL!
