300cx Loader leaking down when tractor is shut off? I am getting ready to buy a new tractor 3120 and want to be sure there is no probems with the loader. I saw some posts here already about this problem and I am not sure I want to get a Deere if there is no solution.

I have a 3320 w/300cx. Raised my 21' powerboat to drain the water out and left it under load (motor shut off) for about an hour. No leak down here!

Bob I sent you a message.

All loaders will settle. This is the nature of spool valves.

Deere3120 : To some extent any loader will leak down over time. It is generally considered acceptable to leak down very slowly (over several hours). I believe Deere actually measures the amount of leakdown, but if you can't see it leak down while you watch it, it is probably within acceptable limits.

BobCurry : Just a thought, but with your 21' boat, why was there water IN the boat? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have the 300cx on a 990 and I have not had any problems with it leaking down. I stuck one of my 4wheelers on the front of my trailer and sat the bucket down real close to it and drove on a bumpy dirt road for 10+ miles both ways and it didn't leak down a bit.

Bob S,

Living in the FL panhandle makes for some interesting ways to take care of your boats in hurricane season! I let the nose down to fill the bilge up with water. After the hurricane thunderstorms/feederbands move thru, I raise the nose with the bucket and let her flush out. Only takes about an hour with that small drain hole!

Tomorrow I will post a picture my boat's (was my G-Paws) solution to water problems - Mississippi river style.

My 419 loader is exhibiting issues like those described in the original post. Yesterday I was hauling top soil from one end of the property (3+ acres) and had to continually tilt the bucket back and raise the lift arms as it kept lowering and the bucket kept rotating forward. I even went so far as to lock the joystick so I couldn't be bumping it with my leg but it still kept creeping down.

My main concern is the bucket rotating toward the dump position as I bounce along with a full bucket. The creep would require me to bring the bucket back about every two minutes as I drove it.

Is this enough drain to have a dealer look at it or am I doing something when re-attaching the loader that is causing this? I have removed and reinstalled the loader about five times since I bought this new '04 this spring.

It seems like your loader's leak down is excessive. Normally leak down is measured when the tractor is OFF and sitting unused. Leakdown while the engine is running would indicate that you may have some issues. Could be as simple as low fluid level or air in the system (would lead to some jerky movement) or it could be something like a leak in the system, etc. I think you should monitor it a bit more closely, check your fluid levels, and then contact the dealer with some specific information about it.
