How many amps?

Hi. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I want to discuss it again

How many amps can I draw on a BX? I want to mount some work lights for snow blowing this winter.

Also, it looks like there is a wire set ready and waiting for my lights under the seat. Can I attach two lights and split this wire set? Or, do I have to find another set to run another light? I'd love to have two in the back......just not sure if the "outlets" are available or the BX alternator can handle that. I'm figuring on about 60 watts each....any help would be nice.

I found one halogen lamp at the TSC store recently ($13) and ran the wire from the rear terminals of my BX that you intend to use. One lamp works just fine. It is far brighter than the dual headlights. I had it turned to test for about a half-hour while mowing with no heat in the wire, switch or any fixtures. The rear terminals are on only when the switch is on.

You might consider adding an additional light switch also. Inrush current to incandescent lamps is roughly 10 time operating. In the case of two 60 watt lamps this is a 100 amp inrush that lasts for 10's of milliseconds, until the filiment warms up. This is tough on any switch and the added one is a whole lot cheaper to replace. Get in the habit of turning on the work lights with the added switch and not the BX light switch.

So......does anybody know if I can run two lights off the single set of "working light" wires under the seat?...with two switches, it looks like I can.
