Amazon will claim they carbon capture their coal emissions, which is good. If they perfect the process, coal will again provide cheap reliable power to the country.

Amazon just refurbished a coal plant to power their AWS server farm in Wyoming because coal is plentiful and cheap. You know, the company that is going to be all green in 10 years.

Where does any of that say that the coal plant has been refurbished?

Everything I've read says it's still slated to close in 6 years (2027).

Several companies are pushing to keep it open to try and capture carbon dioxide to use to extract oil, but they're all still doing studies.

Most of the articles are at least 2 years old.

I found this one from January of this year, and it says nothing has been done yet, and the plant is still slated to be closed in 2027.

LOL. Wyoming PBS is heavily funded from entities outside of Wyoming along with the Powder River Resource council that do not want coal as an energy source even if it met EPA standards.

Amazon is struggling to meet their goals for sure but a lot of that has to do with how much they generate and how fast they’re growing. That’s both good and bad for them, and they still plan on being on 100% renewables by 2025. Amazon is such a unicorn that it’s hard to really compare them to other tech companies or other retailers so in many ways it’s much harder for them than it is for somebody like a Microsoft. I know that’s all excuses but I can tell you they’re firmly committed and coal has absolutely positively no place in their future plans, barring some miracle invention that allows you to burn all the coal you want without poisoning our atmosphere of course. Hey, you never know

Anything pro coal and big tech is heavily scrubbed of internet things. I guess a person has to be on the ground to know what's happening.

There is not enough wind capacity to power all these centers. Their trying, but it's far from being close. When you have Lowes, Amazon, Walmart, a super computer, Microsoft all competing for 75 windmills power...the math doesn't add up. However they are in the state with the lowest energy cost because of something.

They had to build a giant sub station to handle the load...two years later they had to build a second one. With direct high capacity lines running due north...
