Hi guys,

I am not sure how this happened or what could cause it. I had just pushed over a pile of mulch and backed up when I noticed my tires pointing different directions. :( Any idea what could cause something like this? Has anyone had this happen to them?

I was really bummed since it is the second major thing to go wrong with the tractor...the first was a transmission issue that was covered but I still had to pay to haul it to the dealer...so it cost me. I have about 450 hours on the tractor.

I am several months past my warranty, but my dealer convinced Kioti to cover the parts and shipping, but I would have to pay for the work which is like $500. :(. Kioti said the bevel case and axle case would need to be replaced. How difficult would this be to do myself? I am not sure if that is even an option or if getting the parts is contingent on having my dealer do the work...I would need to ask . Money is tight right now!

Kioti said they also upgraded this part so I wonder if it was due to failures? So one side would be the new version, and the other the old version. I think they would cover the shipping for the other side if I wanted to upgrade, but that would be an additional $600 dollars so I doubt it's worth it.

OUCH! On the Yanmar tractor i had I had to replace a seal in a very similar place on your axle. It actually isn't very hard to take apart and put back together, I spent about 3 days working on it which included locating the new parts. Your front axle looks pretty basic, given you have some tools to assist in the disassemble and a concrete surface, or even a sheet of plywood, you should be able to get it done. It doesn't take a lot of mechanical experience to take apart, it is just simple concepts that this gear turns that one and this seal keeps the oil here. I would order the parts and fix it yourself, you will save a lot of $$$. :) Just my :2cents:

Thanks Johndeere3720,

I am thinking I will give it a shot. I have the basic tools and time. I don't have a trailer big enough for it, so if I can do it at the farm, I would save some trailering costs too.

You never realize how much you depend on your tractor till it goes down.

Sorry to hear this. Your tractor is the same as mine. Any idea on manufacture date? Now I'm curious if mine has the updated parts. 520 hours and running strong but "knock on wood".

Dmace,

Mine is a 2007. Not sure when they updated them.

Mines an 06. If you get some sort of parts numbers, I would appreciate if you posted them.

The axle looks like the Kubota's. Big pair of snap ring pliers and lots of rags. I replaced the bearings in ones side of mine, took more time to figure out how to get the sanp ring out than to do the work.

Buy yourself a shop manual for this job.

Yes, that would be my first move. Or, at least download an IPL for that axle on line someplace. Like SlowZuki said you will spend a lot of time trying to figure out things and having a picture sure makes it easier.
