How hot is too hot?

It is binary; on or off. The engines do not have the agriculture oil coolers with the large oil capacity and larger openings, making them somewhat more prone to clogging with chaff/dust under certain conditions compared to the Deutz tractors. Same wonderful Deutz air cooling and efficiency.

All the best,

Peter

I was just wondering as to what engine model you had and what runs the varying speed of the fan if there is one... Just some specifics as to how it cools.. I run 5 deutz ag tractors so was just wondering how was cooled

I thought your blower fan would be belt driven instead of electrical... Ours are driven by a belt and regulated by oil pressure and viscosity via a exhaust gas thermostat... Other than keeping oil cooler clean and engine clean and trying to increase running time of the fan i am afraid I can't help.. The new beefed up fan looks like a great idea..

There are two fans. The motor has a belt driven fan on it. The engine compartment has a electrical fan which pulls air across the hydraulic heat exchanger. I am upsizing this fan to move more air through the engine compartment. This should help with the cooling on everything.

Is there any way of speeding up the belt driven fan or is it simply ran by engine speed? I would not remove any side covers as these force air through the oil cooler and past the engine... Sounds like you're probably doing all you can

The PT version of Deutz engine is a little different than the tractor engines. The only shroud remaining covers the top of the cylinders and encloses the incoming air stream, generated by a belt driven alternator fan. Some of that air stream bleeds out over a small air cooler, with interfin metal fins. It is those fins that are prone to clogging with dust on the non-ag engines.

Since these tractors are hydraulically driven, there is a second oil reservoir (much larger) and that has the electrically driven fan to cool the hydraulic oil.

I hope that this helps.

All the best,

Peter

Well I went to put the new fan on yesterday, and it was the wrong size. It is a 14", not a 16". I could redo the mounting, but instead I will return the fan and get the correct one.

Sorry for the incorrect info. I need to pay better attention to the measurements.
