Right after I purchased my Kubota, I installed a two spool valve from Summit to control top/tilt. I have noticed that the valve always gets very hot, not hot enough to blister you but definitely very hot. I know some heat is normal under heavy use but when do you know there is an issue and need to investigate?

Can you give us more details on how is this valve connected to the rest of the system?

Normal hydraulic oil temperature should be in the 140 - 180 degrees F depending on how hard you are working the hydraulics.

Recommended max oil temp is usually 220 - 230 F since hotter than that starts effecting seal materials.

PB from loader to P on the P40G
PB Sleeve in the N port of valve
N to the port on the hydraulic block where the loader BY had been.
T Port on the p40G to a tee on the tank vent.

I would say that I am within that range. Thanks!

I forget the actual temperature, but somewhere around 120 degrees F is sensed as too hot to touch.
I checked my transmission case with an infrared temp tool, and get around 180 when working the machine.

The number I have consistently heard for too hot to touch is 130, not 120. As in you cannot hold your hand on a 130F surface without either getting a burn or just pulling away. Either way, even 120 is not going to be pleasant.
