While bush-hogging tonight my front left axle broke in two. It looks like this is the part I need:

Looks like there are about 6 bolts that hold the outer cover on.. is it a simple "pull the old one out and put the new one in" job, or does the whole knuckle have to come apart?

This is for a 1601D 4wd.

There is a nut that holds the stub axle in, you will have to disassemble the gear box to remove the stub axle. The parts manual has exploded views of it.

If 1Danny said it it is true! That is my understanding too. In your picture there is a retaining washer and bolt at the very top of the pic. most definitely you have to take the thing apart. to get that out.

That really is too bad--it looks like the weld just broke.
