How hard are armadillos to kill?

I've never had trouble putting one down with a 22LR to the head. Not like those critter run from in most cases. It's fun to watch a dog chase one, they can jump really high when they want and can run quite well.

Always use a wad cutter on armadillos and u won’t have much difficulty killing them.

Anyone having trouble killing armadillos are not from Texas…..or maybe just moved from the city recently

I hit an armadillo in a rental car once. Thought I had hit a rock!
Armadillo did not survive and the car did not seem to have any damage.
Never saw the critter as it blended in with the low sun angle.

Boy did that sound wake me up though, thought the car was a gonner.

.223 Ruger ranch rifle with Hornady Superformance varmint 55 grain does a number on them (or anything else). Seems like every time I shoot one though, 5 more take its place.

SHOOT ? Pickum up by the tail, pop their head off and leaveum for the buzzards.
Even if you manage to straddle one in the road it will still hit underneath because they always jump straight up when frightened.

Long ago there was an article on reloading the 25-20 WCF. In response to "What's it good for?" the author said it was the perfect armadillo cartridge.

Got several hundred with a .22LR with one shot each in the past 50 years. Also quite a few with a pellet gun / air rifle up close. Save your big ammo for other things.
