Did you know that armadillos can have leprosy and transmit it to humans?

While its very rare, on average only a few dozen people per year get infected, I would have said that desiease was whipeout many years ago.

Seriously if the Dallas Cowboys would move out wouldn't be much of a reason to live there...😉
Yeah, I am NOT a natural born Texan. I must say have been giving a lot of consideration to selling out and moving more North. I will get railed on for saying this, but the climate here is horrible - depending on what you like to or have to do. If you like blazing sun and heat, it's all good. For me it is continual struggle due to the prolonged droughts and heat, then flooding. Cannot tell you how many years I have tried to grow a hay crop for the cattle and like this year.... nothing. Then with the droughts, it is next to impossible to buy hay or the price is through the roof.
Oh well, guess everywhere has pluses and minus things.

Yep, had heard that. The blood of many animals can spread many diseases. If you kill a wild hog - they are especially bad.

Can't imagine hitting an armadillo with a car. Bend a wheel? Break a control arm? Blow a tire?

Maybe thanks to driving loud vehicles, my only vehicular encounter with wildlife was a ground hog I hit in my 20's, and even that soft bag of bones felt like a bag of hard concrete going under the right front tire at 45 mph.

On the contraire... I am a native Texan. Relocated to mid-Georgia after retirement to assist M-in-L through fatal illness. We have mild temperatures, no flooding, and proportionate temps. I sorely miss those 100* summers back in South Texas. More so, I miss those 50* 'severe winters'!

After 70+ years in Texas, acclimating comes hard. Anything below 50* for me is freezing weather, even after 10+ years here in Georgia. This morning was a frigid 47*. Two shirts and jacket time for me. We have the heat going full blast, and I'm still cold! Yeah, I miss Texas!!!

Son-in-law shot one several times with a 10-mm Glock yesterday. Said it took four shots of which three appeared to be good hits dead center from about five feet.

Wife's 85+ year old aunt swerved to hit one this week and said she nearly had whiplash when the huge Buick bounced over it.

Tougher than a Russian tank.

RSKY
I had a similar experience. Nailed a big-un from 5' with a '38'. Direct hits that simply slid right off that rascal. I figured that if it were that lucky, it deserved to go on digging up holes in the yard. With that, it just waddled off like nothing at all had happened.
Lesson Learned: Use my .44 mag if I really wanted to dispense one.

Shot one with a .17 HMR at 30 yds. 1st shot crippled it. 2nd shot dispatched it.

.17hmr has such of high penetrating capability with its small led radius and high velocity I am not surprised it was able to have the upper hand on its shell. By far my favorite small caliber rifle to shoot.
