I sure wish the fellow TBN'ers out East could send some of that excess rain our way.We are in the 7th week without a drop.

8/18 the temp. reached 106,8/19-104,8/20-104,forcast for 8/21 is around 103.

I have been off work for the past two weeks and all I have accomplished is watering trees and shrubs, just trying to keep things alive.

We have over 3 acres under irrigation,I ran all zones last night for 1-1/2 hours, this morning you could'nt tell I had watered at all /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I had also ran the system this past Sat. evening...

I hear ya. It's been the same here. Hot, humid, and not a drop of rain. We better get some quick or alot of crops are going to be lost.

I wish I could send some your way, I have been rained out of almost everything I have need to do lately. I am on the coast of NC, and I have ponds where there shouldn't be ponds /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. I am trying to get our soccer fields ready for the fall season but it rains every weekend here. Oh well at least the grass is green even if it does splash when I walk on it.

Doc,We live in the middle of ag. country. The Corn is done, estimated at about 1/3 of a "normal" harvest. Most of the cattle farmers have put all the Corn into silage, whats left won't hardly be worth shelling...

The Soybeans are are not far behind,I would say if it does'nt rain RIGHT NOW,15-20 bushel beans will be about average.

I have seen a few fields that have been cut and put up for hay,a scarce commodity also...

MReeter, I have heard that it is better to not water grass that has gone dormant. You might be better off until the drought is over until you water it.

WoodDawg,I appreciate the thought. My son came home from Soccer practice last evening and his feet were killing him,our fields are soo dry and hard it's tough on little feet that are wearing cleats /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Here's a pic I took last Summer about this time...quite a difference,to say the least..

Dry here too. Have run my well out two weekends in a row watering tomatoe plants.
Regenerates pretty quick, but, making me nervous!

Spenc,I'm sure you're right,I've been running the system mainly to give our small trees and some of the shrubs a good drink.

I've been busy watering trees outside of the systems reach,I have a 50 gallon tank on the back of our BX that I use,it's gravity feed through a garden hose,so it takes a while...

I also have "soaker" hoses wrapped around the foundation of our house, trying to avoid breaks in the concrete...
