How does your State and town tax you

NH needs to get it somewhere. They have no State income tax and no sales tax. Our real estate tax here is ridiculous, but what we get hit with for autos is even more aggravating to me.

I've heard that the excise tax on a new vehicle here is pretty expensive. I wouldn't know, last time I bought a new car was 1971. On the 7-8 yo vehicles I usually get it isn't too bad.

Schools here want to decrease class and increase taxes. They already take 50% of local taxes.

It is similar in Washington State in my county... never had a child attend Washington schools... my share of school tax is over 6k per year and I've been paying that for 10 years... there went my M59

Nevada has no income tax. They do ding us every other which way for property tax, sales tax, personal property tax, vehicle tax etc. Much of the property tax goes to schools but our schools still rank near the bottom for achievement in the US. 'Course if you take Clark County where Las Vegas is and where most of the illegals live, our schools rank at #17 in the nation - - but as quality of education goes, that ain't saying much.

More than half my income goes to taxes, been that way for years. Wouldn't mind nearly so much if they didn't waste it. I have a California corporation, don't even what to think about what the company pays in taxes, its staggering.

that's what I like the best about when we grow , produce and process things like food & firewood entirely on our own. No parasite who had ought naught to do with it receives a penny. that makes the food taste better and the fire feel warmer. My next place will be off grid no electric bill for them to add extras on too.
Doesn't make sense to pay taxes for highways and infrastructure. Who needs driveable roads, water, sewage? Fire departments and police are probably a waste of time for many of you also.

I don't mind paying taxes, I just don't like the way they waste my money!
Then get active and change it. That is what a democracy is about.

But if it only worked that way, Newbury. Our representative democracy is broken. Lobbyists, special interests, corruption, unions, almost half the country at the welfare trough in one form or another. I don't think many are complaining about roads (if they took the lowest good bid and didn't waste money there too with prevailing wage rules etc.) or police (I was one once). Nope, it's the asinine spending that torques people's jaws beyond spec, the spending of money the government doesn't have, and the bankrupting of our future.

When I came here in '52, mom was left with 5 kids to raise when my stepfather stepped out with a younger woman. Almost no child support. No welfare back then. We decided we wanted to eat, so we all got to work. I even got up at 4, rode my bike to a bakery and made donuts until it was time to ride to school (girl in typing complained I smelled like a donut and I got hauled in to talk to the counselor - told her no way could I ride back home and take a shower before school and that was the end of that. Besides, donuts don't smell so bad.). It did develop a strong work ethic, almost too strong.

I thought that if you had a biz in CA, you were supposed to incorporate in NV (or DE) to save on
corporate fees and taxes. It is even easier if you actually live in NV.

Here is CA, we pay dearly for the great weather.

If you do business in CA, you still have to pay state income tax on those monies that derive from CA. In my case, I lived in CA when I started the company and it's not the kind of company that one can easily move (alarm company and monitoring facility). Most of the company's worth is in the number of accounts. I moved to NV in 2003, leaving the kids to run the company. They still send me a paycheck, though I for sure don't earn it and would have fired my semi-worthless butt long ago :c)

No way to get out of the CA taxes that I'm aware of - - honestly.
