Today when I got a face full of pollen, I realized my corn was tasseling. I picked about five gallons of peas off the six rows. Most of it came off the first four rows, so when the other two rows catch up, I'll get about a bucket and a half per picking. Everything I read on line about growing indoors said to never bring plants from your outside garden inside without a two week quarantine period. Some things you read online are the truth.

Yep. I have run out of space under the lights until I get another set hung, so that plant had got stuck to the side. Most of the lower limbs had died from lack of light, and I was trimming them off when I noticed the worm. Also noticed a couple of little tomatoes, so I had better get that next rack fixed. I have seen some informative videos on You Tube about growing with CFL's, so I'm going to try them. I bought a section of heating and cooling duct for a hood and some pig-tail sockets.

Allright finally pickled my first batch of hot wax peppers. About a 40 oz jar! :D

My plan WAS for doing this back on Monday my supposedly day off but I got it done today. Plus did another oven dish full of my garden green bell stuffed peppers smothered in mozzarella ( I cheated a wee bit the rice, meat and tomato filling was already prepared by me a couple of days ago ;) )

Now I'm wondering IF I should get into making eggplant parm or at least frying the eggplant tonight for tomorrows dinner...I am low on jar sauce so that means cooking down about 8 lbs of my ripe garden tomatoes harvest for fresh sauce too....decisions, decisions!

Maybe I should post over to that old cooking thread that's been revived!

The acorn squash are getting close. A few more days and I'll be digging out the brown sugar and butter.

I got 8 rows of purple hulls planted this morning, then replanted {for the 3rd time} the green beans after supper. Most of the ones that had sprouted from the last planting have died. I'm beginning to think it's just too hot here for a fall crop. By the time it cools down enough for them to live, there won't be enough time to produce before frost.

Edit: I forgot to say we had a nice shower this afternoon, so the peas should be in good shape for sprouting.

Have you ever tried the white acorn squash it is one very earliest, not the greatest for long term storage (the white skin darkens and turns yellow) but its so tasty doesn't stick around very long anyhow :D

No, this was my first year growing acorn squash. The only reason I tried them was I was buying flower seeds at the Dollar Tree to go in the garden, and saw some of the Table Queen. Since the little packs were 5/$1.00, I picked up a few. We liked them, so i bought a few more seeds for a 2nd planting. Next year I want to try some of the other acorn squash.

Hope your peas do well. I agree about it being too hot to get late things started. I have some late squash and a couple of tomato plants but most things have taken a dive.

On the planting before this one I had about 10% live through the first week. We had four or five days in the high 90's with no cloud cover, and everything was toast. I had to replant acorn squash, regular squash, Armenian cucumbers, regular cucumbers, corn and green beans. This time I watered by hand as I transplanted, ran the sprinklers, got soaker hoses laid the first day, plus we had cloudy, rainy days. About 90% of them are living.
