I think he has a good foundation, I see tomatoes, corn, green beans?, many of the things needed for a good well rounded meal.

Add squash and you have the Three Sisters, what this country was founded on. {well, it's really corn, beans and squash, but you have to allow for a little poetic license}

In support of a local pick ur own I took Anne to pick asparagus Friday morning. We have been to this farm before for strawberries. They no longer grow them the owner said when she turned 75 three years ago she said the strawberries were to much work. She now is only doing asparagus and raspberries we will be going back for those also. While there I inquired about where I may find wild blackberries as I love to put them up for cobblers during the winter and they invited me back in late June and July to walk the farm and get all I want free of charge. Really nice people and btw the asparagus was $3.00 a pound we picked 3 1/2 lbs and enjoyed them with a Loundon Broil and rice/Mexican

When I was growing up I thought blackberry jelly was the only kind folks made. We always made enough to last the year. Speaking of berries, I went to the pond a couple of days ago to check on the huckleberry crop. There were just a few ripe on each bush, but in another week or so they should be reaching their peak. With all the rain we've had, it should be a bumper crop. Maybe not as sweet though.

Anne likes to make the Blackberry jam to give as gifts, she doesn't eat jam but I like it on my pbj or toast.

This afternoon was the first chance I had to get in the garden this week. My boss's dad died, so I have office relief everyday. I managed to get some soaker hoses laid, hilled all the viney things {again} and saw the first green beans. The bad storms over the weekend knock down some of the corn.

I transplanted a row of chili peppers into the garden after work. I wanted to do some Roma tomatoes, but spent too much time repairing old soaker hoses. Saw a few squash/blooms.
