Shredded paper? Please help me understand this Larro.

I like to lay down cardboard in the garden during the Winter and cut it in the Spring. Margie ask me if I could use shredded paper from her office {and the Courthouse in general}. I figured if cardboard is a good soil builder, paper can't be bad. I don't like the fact it's white {bleached}, but look at my dirt. It's pretty bleached too.

I was thinking that looked like you were planting on a beach.

Sand I have plenty of. If I could find a market for prickly pears I would have it made.

I know the feeling when I adopted this place I'm on I had tons of them but after liberal amounts of lime and fertilizer they are pretty much non existent now.
What kinds have you got? I have three kinds going so far, and am waiting with baited breath on the Pruden's Purple seeds to sprout.
It's a highly disease resistant variety from Twilley seed. We had excellent results from them last year and decided to try them again. I'll be starting another flat in the next week or so of another variety and I'm still undecided as to what.

I have found the more you mow, the fewer of the prickly pear you have. I'm not a big fan of mowing though. I've spent a good deal of my professional life cutting grass. Golf courses, ball fields, hay-fields, pastures and yards.

We have had a couple of three bad years with tomatoes. Late last year I picked up a pack of Pruden's Purple seeds and ran them in grow bags in a {redneck} rain gutter grow system. They did really well, and we liked them a lot. I have 5 or 6 kinds of tomato seeds, but most of mine this year will be PP.

I set out a few onion sets today. Transplanted 7 Hungarian Wax into cups and 2 Beef Steak tomatoes into grow bags and put them into the trench. Also laid off rows for planting peas and corn tomorrow.

Larro, you are really making me feel like I'm way way behind. Nothing yet going in my wife's greenhouse! :ashamed: I'm going to have to crack the whip. :D

Thinking about putting some sweet corn in the dirt this week sometime, the weather looks real nice but I'm sure as soon as I do it'll be 30* again.
