Oh. Mine shock at first but take off in a few days.

I have no idea how my (wife's) garden grows... I am excited to get home Wednesday after two week exhausting trip to Asia visiting four countries, 7 cities, and never more that two nights in a hotel. Worked everyday including two weekends showing my new boss the APAC territory.
On green tomatoes, I suppose we should do something with the 100s of green 'cherry' tomatoes we have at the end of the season. Many vines are so loaded it is almost like a grape cluster!
Okay, a little exaggeration but my wife plants so many tomatoes growing from seed and she doesn't have the heart to not see them through to the end after all the effort put in! Of course many, many ripen but there are quite a few that don't before the cold sets in around here.
Good to know about the shock. I just about called (Time of Death) on them today.

We first pull the plant, roots and all and hang them upside down in the garage or sun room. Then the remaining get boxed similarly to what you do but most seem to rot at that point.Always a problem here too. I'd say less than half ripen before the first frost and/or days get too short to ripen on-vine.
We just bring them inside, place them in a cardboard box and layer them with newspaper separating the layers. About 75% of them will ripen over the course of a month or so. The rest just seem to rot before they ripen and go into the compost pile.
Tomatoe Plants not looking good. Night temps 9c and daytime 20c.
