How do you mark top link length on greasy threads?

File a flat spot about 1/4 to 3/8 long on every 4th thread. Then you can use 3 1/4, 4 3/4 etc. for your reproducible distances.

Every tenth would work easily, too. (4.6, 3.4 etc)

Dedicating a toplink for each implement is convenient. I used to keep 2 for my most frequently used implements (finish mower and rear blade). Now I enjoy using a hydraulic toplink so it's a non issue.

Some toplinks are designed so they can't easily be disassembled. Does yours have a bolt screwed into the side of the barrel at each end? If so, remove it, then it will come apart.

The OEM top link on my M6040 has some type of "internal stop" so that the link will not unscrew completely. I suppose it could be forced - but for no good reason that I can think of.

The quick & easy answer to the length of your top link - hydraulic top link. Takes the pain out of any adjustment & allows absolute precise adjustment.

I'd like to get to 1 top link/implement and 1 tractor per implement :)

I have Amazon adds now showing on this page...toplinks for $26!
Tractor part might be harder.....
