My DK40 showed empty so I got 5 gal diesel. Backed out of barn and she stopped running. I'm thinking ran out of fuel.

I put in the 5 gal but no. Start. Strong battery and hear the "click" when i turn the key.

I have no owners manual but see on the fuel bowl there is an on/off/air position lever. Turned to air and cranked for 30 seconds. put back to on but no go !

I took off the fuel bowl and it was full.

What are my next steps or does this sound like something other than air in the system due to low fuel condition.

Thanks for the help.

When you turned your valve to "air" did you get fuel draining from the bowl? You should get fuel without cranking. If you get fuel there then you should just crack the fuel line where it meets the injector pump with the ignition switch in the on position. You should get air/fuel spraying there. When it is just fuel, tighten the fitting. Try starting again.

Sorry. Not sure I understand. Are you suggesting I remove the bowl and see if fuel drips out ? I know nothing about tractors so I need to find injectors etc. Looks like at least 3 fuel lines one of which is at the top of the bowl. Is this were I should see fuel with valve turned to air? Not sure what to disconnect. Remove bowl or disconnect line on top of bowl.

I feel so stupid.

There is typically a hose coming from the valve where it allows you to bleed air from the filter and bowl. The end of the hose is open so it can drain when you turn it to "air".
