I have a 4yr old crafstman 54incut, 26hp kohler, after it gets hot it loses power for a while then does fine, back and forth. i cleaned the carb, it had some varnish and sediment, but it still bogs down when hot, i can mess with the choke and it will run fine for 5 minutes then bog again. A mower tech told me it could be the fuel shutoff solonoid. Is there a way to check it before i drop 60 bucks on a new one. maybe some resistance check or something???? I have also replaced fuel filter and fuel pump.& the hoses look good. Thanks

Disconnect the fuel solenoid and unscrew the plunger and apply voltage and see if the plunger moves.

Clean the sleeve/housing the rod move in.

Full 12v?

Yes, all 12 v. Clean all fuel off the solenoid before you touch the wires with the 12v.

It only takes a little bit of grit to jam the plunger. Work the plunger until it is free.

I have done this many times.

Don't forget the ground side of the equation.
It MUST have a good ground.
