How you doing with the Derecho Huston?

We went through one and I can verify, they create a lot of work.

We get them once in a great while coming in from Lake Michigan. Luckily not as destructive as what Houston went through.

Straight line winds have nothing on them.

I had to look that up also. No such animal around these parts - luckily.

Those are no joke! As mentioned we get them in Michigan rarely but back in 1998 I believe we got hit twice in two days and it caused tons of destruction. No power in some areas for several days. Hope ya'll are good down there!

People who experience them often refer to them as an inland hurricane.

Straight line wind at 58mph or higher and frequent gusts over 75mph. The one in Cedar Rapids, Iowa topped out at 140mph.

Surprised that Houston hasn't had anything to say about the weekend storm.

We had winds over 130 mph here, my county and two others were designated a federal disaster area. It was wild.

We were in the path of the 2020 derecho. No bad damage at our house or area nearby but a lot of damage in the area. Poles knocked over, farm buildings damaged and a lot of grain bins damaged.
