Hour meter adjustment

/ Hour meter adjustment #21
I got a cable drive Tach with built in hour meter and it sucks. The tach needle bounces so much you cant hardly read it. And the slower the engine runs, the slower the hours read so its not even close to accurate.

Never done it But it would make sense that if the hour meter is controlled by an electronic chip .. that the chip would have a reset or clear leg. need to find out if it is cleared by applying a voltage or grounding a pin?
Has anybody looked up the pin configuration for the timer chip?

Just a thought

You can buy 12 volt hour meters and wire them up so they work when the engine in running. Some tractor manufactures do not use the hour meter as a normal clock. They don't count the time you are running around idle RPM's the same as near PTO speed RPM's. That may be why yours looks to be wrong, but really may be working as designed. You could try pulling your cable out and greasing it. Used to have to do this many years ago when all vehicles had cable driven speedometers.
