Hour gauge

Hello, I have been on forums before but never for a lawnmower but I know I can get advice from these. I got a D100 lawn tractor today and the hour meter is reading about 5X the proper reading that it should. Will it effect my warranty or is it nothing to worry about? I know it has two year warranty but should I get the Hour meter fixed? Does it do anything to the engine if I ignore it? (cut-off switch) Thanks a million. Johndb

John its still under warantee so you need to get it fixed. If and when you try to sell it and the Hr. meter is reading wrong I dont care if your the pope the buyer is not going to believe you when you say its really has "low hours" the meter has be broken when I bought it.

John. The hour meter will run up hours if the ignition is on even with the engine off.

You may have a short or current source to the hour meter causing it to add hours.

Let the dealer fix the problem since it's under warranty.

This may sound stupid but is there a decimal point that my old eyes can't see? Thanks for the help.

So my eyes are to blame, it said .8 and I thought it said 5 so the gauge works perfect I just need someone else to read it or glasses. Thanks for the help.

Yep, I have to have my glasses on and good light (or a flashlight) to read the one on my Toro ZTR.:laughing:

Just one of the pleasures of aging. Need lots of light and still can't see the end of the screwdriver and the screw head. Take the glasses off and then have to get too close.

But that's OK, one adapts!:thumbsup:
