Has anyone with a cab tractor insulated the underside of the roof? I find that even during the winter here in FL, the space between the ceiling and roof heats up readily on sunny days. It would be nice to use forced cool air from outside on a 50 or 60 deg day but as the "attic" heats so too does the ducting. It's been on my to-do list for a few years but you know how that goes.

Anyway - what have you used, would you use something different given the chance and how effective was it?

Maybe some Reflectix insulation would help. Not much room in my cabbed tractor because the A/C system is up there. I'm going to try some too.

I'm way farther north from Florida but not as far as John is in Alaska. We don't get a lot of hot days in summer. I probably have used the A/C only 24-30 times in 4 years. I haven't had many days above 90 and the A/C blows nice and cold. Heat is my main concern as 80% of my tractor use is in winter. Tractor only sees between 60-70 hours a year here.
I've only popped the roof once and that was when I installed my radio 4 years ago. I don't recall how tight it was in there but think 1/4" insulation would fit.

Eastwood sells dynamat in rolls that are 1/4" thick and would do the job for you. I have used it before on automotive floorpans when restoring cars. They have other insulation products too.

What color is the roof? Would painting it white help?
