horse bedding compost chopper

Any body have any ideas on how to make a chopper for horse bedding /compost. I was wondering if a flail mower or cultivator could modified to have a hopper that would be loaded with excavator and just shoot it out the bottom. Any thoughts are welcome. We clogged a hay bale mulcher pretty good the other day. Seemed like it would wok if the material did not have to blown out an elbow. The elbow clogged almost immediately.

I have a 3pt chipper that is hyd fed. I had a clogging problem because of the turn in the pipe also. I shortened the pipe so about half the bend is gone and put the deflector back on. Don't have near the problems anymore.

are you chipping wood or trying to process compost as well. I think I am close to designing something , atleast in my head. Why cannot a manure spreader with flail type auger that runs independently of the conveyor work. I am thinking of a small gasoline engine to power the flail and gear the ground speed on the conveyor so the conveyor turns much faster with slower tire rotation. I could tow this with my excavator and load it with the bucket to create windrows. Seems cheaper than a $12,000.00 windrow turner. Am I dreaming ?
