Hooks on a BH bucket... how many and where?

Thinking about welding some hooks on my 20" backhoe bucket. Like to hear suggestions from anyone who has done that as well as ideas regarding placement and number of hooks used.

A lot of folks place the hook on the back of the bucket.

Yes one hook on the back and as hight o the linkage as possible.
The idea is out of the way, yet allows the chain to run around the bucket, so when you curl it you'll gain some "lift'

According to the particular hoe it might be better to put it on the plate that connects the bucket links.
That would allow use (as a crane) without the bucket, providing better viz, more capacity by not having the bucket's weight and not having to weld a hook on every bucket.
Maybe not all hoes have a plate across the bucket links, in which case on the bucket may be the only option.
A loop is another option, then an anchor shackle to a chain hook; that would be a bit more flexible in that you could use rope through the loop for.... whatever,

I'd weld on a piece of plate on edge with a hole in it big enough for a clevis pin onthe back of the bucket. A hook will be more likely to get bent or broken and will wear faster than a plate. You can also use the plate/clevis with nylon straps for lifting, where a hook would damage the straps.
