Homemade log splitter 3rd function aux.

Hey guys got a 25hp Kubota that i had a 3rd function aux. installed on this summer. Got me thinking about a log splitter now that winter is getting near.

I was thinking of making a 3 point hitch one. I was assuming all I have to do is plug it in and after i put log on splitter just walk up to front end loader handle and press it in and out.

Does this sound like a good way to go about this ?

Any one else out there do this?

Not good. You could do that, but that is not a good way to run a splitter. You need to be at the splitter.

A log splitter valve is a good thing to have. Some of the valves, you pull the lever fwd to split/extend, and pull back to detent for return.

The auto valve will extend and return to neutral when finished splitting.

If you going to use the tractor, you would plug the log splitter hoses in the remote and bungee the lever to on, then the log splitter valve will control the splitter.

Here are a few 3pt log splitters to give you some ideas.

The first splitter is using his tractor for the splitter, but not a good idea. The others have their own valve.

The second red splitter has the hyd cylinder inside the tube, and the wedge moves back and forth to split both ways.

The last splitter is using a PTO pump for the hyd.

I think you are referring to buying a wedge. If so I think you will be better satisfied with make a plate to push the wood and making a stationary wedge. You can buy them from Northern Tool for about $40. And just my $0.02 i would spend the money for the Prince SLR 3060 valve super extend speed and lock detent just push handle for detent and forget it.

Kubota L2500 ( Its going to be sold this coming year and upgraded to a 35-40hp )
