I finally got around to taking a few pictures of my homemade FEL quick attach, I'm not the best welder so don't beat me up too bad about the ugly welds. My previous tractor was a John Deere so I built this one to fit my hay spears and such that I already had.

What locks the bottom pin in place?

There is a hole drilled through it to put in a 3/8" lynch pin.

Here is a picture of the pin with the hole in it.

The only proplem I see is if you already have John Deere attaschments your pin attachment hole is in the wrong place as JD is off to the side , nice job though a lot better then I can do.

You have nothing to apologize about with those beads. I would be concerned that the top might want to straighten out with time and heavy loads. Also, I often have the front wheels pick up when backdragging and that is an awful amount of force to put on a lynch pin.

It was easier to cut the pins off of the attachments and re-locate them than it was to re-design a hitch, thanks for the compliments.

I hope the top does not straighten out, it is 3/8" plate 4.5 inches wide, I picked up a roll of hay with the very tip of the spear and watched the flex as I lowered it and stopped suddenly and it did not move, I'll double the thickness if it fails.

Very nice work ... I think with the extra strap on the top of the hooks you should be okay ... even thought the pins are not set to JD specs any other JD attatchments you get ... well with the quailty work you demonstrated here I am convinced you will have no problem removing the pins and moving them in to match your unit... more folks should take the step and be creative!! Again nice job.

Sorry about that. It looked like 1/4" to me.

what size john deere? I want to make my front loader swapable to JD quick tatch buckets, forks, etc. IS there any way you could give me the dimensions? top pin diameter, height from top of pin to the bottom of the FEL mount, width of top pin, width between the two top pins, etc. Im building mine from scratch and don't have a JD dealer close.

Somebody on here had built a very nice looking attachment that would work with the universal skid steer attachments. He offered cad drawings of it and had a very detailed thread about the construction. I haven't gotten around to building it but hope to in the near future. I can't remember who that was, but that is another consideration for anyone thinking about doing this.

I put the JD hook and pin system on the hay equipment we build. The 2 and 300 series JD loaders are the same and the 4 and 500 series are the same. I don't have the CAD drawings but I do have the measurements in the shop.

I also made an atatchment for the hook and pins that converts to SSQA.
