I have a question about the original Lp gage wheels.I set my wheels at the same height as the rake with all the bushings on the top side when I welded the spindle tube on. I couldnt see any reason to carry the wheels any farther up. That woulb be the same as no wheels. How's the original set up? I usally run with the rake 1 1/2 inch up. This setting works good for me.
FYI my tractor is a John Deere 318 with the integral hitch. I had a shop fab a couple of adapters so that I could use 3pt cat0 implements with it. The Howse LP that I bought is 4' and I dragged a neighbors drive today immedialty after getting it. For me it worked well to pull the material back onto the drive and then by reversing the rake level everything, neighbor very happy so all is well that ends well. I wonder if the size or weight of the rake/tractor and the type of material on the road affects the results?
Nice use of the brass. Any more info on the inserts and also brass shim? How did you get he inserts to stay in place? What's the dimensions on the steel shaft, steel tube and brass inserts? Again, VERY nice job.
I bored the tube on the lathe. The brass bushing stays in the tube because its a light press fit. Not so tight I could never get them out but just enough to keep them from moving. Shaft dia. is 1.125"
