Shredder Thoughts
Would like some thoughts on using the front hub, brake rotor, axle & spindle off a front wheel drive.
In a heavy steel box mount spindle, axle out the back. Weld shredder spikes to rotor and fashion a feeder chute. 5 To 10 HP. engine. Direct drive, chain or belt drive, clutch or no clutch.
What you think??
What capacity (that is, size of branches and such) are you looking for? What are you planning to use as the rotor (or is that the purpose of the components you listed above?).
If you want to chip anything larger then 2"-3", I think you'll want more horsepower. As an example, my Woods 5000 (rated for 5") requires a minimum of 15 HP. And, I think you'll want a heavier rotor then what you listed above.
