My son in law is replacing his heating system in his house and has a hundred gallons or so of home heating fuel he needs to get rid of. The guy that fills his tank tested it for moisture and whatever and says it is clean and is the same exact thing as #2 diesel. I am considering pumping out the tank and setting up a couple of 55gal drums on my property. Would sure beat the 5gal at a time system I have now. I would weld up a support frame and maybe work a gravity feed system with filter, etc.

First question... is the claim the heating oil is same as #2 diesel true?

Some people claim it is, other than taxes and dye. I think it also matters particular state regulations and phase in dates of sulphur reduction

The company providing says all their fuel is ULS (ultra low sulphur) and they seem very reputable but I have never dealt with them. Speaking of Wilco (Washington, Oregon based).

Heavy equip mechanic here, also did fuel delivery. It comes outta the same pipe at the rack( terminal) , just won't be blended for cold weather.Pretty much everything is ulsd up here in the northeast now.

Thanks r8nger... that's what I wanted to hear. We don't need the cold weather blend here in the PNW.

It's the same thing from my suppliers.

I've been using HHO in my Kubota for a while now. I do treat it with 2 ounces of Power Service to every 5 gallon can. I'll double that if the temps are going to drop below 0F.

Not all states are using ULSD for heating oil yet, but it is heading that way.

I switched my Kioti DK45 to HHO a couple of years ago. Last year when we replaced out oil furnace with a heat pump, I used the left over oil in my tractor. So far I have experience zero issues with HHO.
