Hitching bush hog to D2 Cat

My D2 Cat has a PTO and I'd like to hitch it up and use it in some hilly ground that has some brush on it. Assuming the PTO shaft fits well for length, what kind of bracing is needed to stabilize the attachment, in lieu of having a 3 pt hitch, which I don't have?
Has anybody hitched a hog to a D2 and used it effectively?

Why go through the trouble to buy/build a 3 point, when you can just buy a pull behind rotary cutter!

My question is, what's the rpm of the CAT's pto? Does it "reverse" when you put the trans in reverse?? Does it have an "over run" clutch built in?

Pull type bush hog would be the best. Be sure and get a bush hog, not a finishing mower.
