Guess I am still confused about what this forum is for. I thought one of the purposes was to help new members? He asked a question. Why ask a question in return?

Why do you pre-suppose that I think something is wrong with asking here? I did not say that, nor even imply that. I asked a question. Same thing you have now done twice in this thread.
Your second post is asking why I asked a question in response to a question. Isn't that exactly what you did to my post---responded to a question with a question? However, that question I can answer, for myself, though I can't answer why you would ask a question in response to a question while asking why I did the same thing /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif.
The reason for asking a question in response to a question for me is to try to further clarify the situation or parameters involved and/or to generate some ideas. The poster did not in any way indicate whether or not he has asked the seller (or whoever made out the invoice). Sometimes we (myself included) overlook the simple solution.
Now, back to Clyde's question. Clyde, when unsure of a model one good idea is to Google it....when googling 2340, one finds essentially nothing Hinomoto, but on 2304, lots. That would probably clarify that 2304 is a good model #, while 2340 may not be. Whether either is what you actually have, I cannot say....we don't handle Hinomoto. Again though, once you know there is a 2304, google it, look at pics, and decide. There may be others here with better Hinomoto knowledge who can ID it for you.
