Now that looks like fun.

Where is this place? I want to make sure I am never, ever anywhere near it. To someone with a fear of heights those pictures, while beautiful, are tantamount to torture. Awesome pictures, but my middle is still in knots. Now I know what happens to Eddie with the snake pictures.:)

LMTC, I thought the pictures were really pretty, but, also, in my opinion, I figure you'd have to be about 2 sandwiches short of a picnic to go on that hike.:D

Tell us more about this. I am guessing China or Japan. Is that somekind of monestary at the top? How old is this path way?

Just looking at those pictures made me nauseated.

I agree, the idea of being up there is more than I want to consider, but what I really want to know is who built it and how?

Thanks for the pics,
Eddie

That looks like a very dangerous hike.
My legs are getting tired jusy by looking at those nice pics.

Mornin Prokop,
Now those are real mountains !!! :) Kathleen would never go on that hike !:)

No thanks! With my fear of (extreme) heights I could never do that!

Even if one is not insanely afraid of heights (as I am), there's a line you cross between risk-taking and stupidity. I forced myself to look at the pics again, closely, and looks to me like the people on the catwalk on the face of the mountain have no safety belts/harnesses, just hands holding on to those rather meager chains....which look like something that belongs on a swing set. I would be willing to bet that the fatality rate among those who built all that was fairly high. I wonder what the tourista fatality rate is?

LMTC,
I dont totally disagree with your evaluation of those catwalks, but in other countries the liability of your behaviour is placed squarely on your shoulders !

Skying in europe is a totally different experience than skying in the USA. No ropes or lines over there to keep you from doing things that you should or should not do, just your own common sense ! No lawyers to suit the pants off the business owner.

Im not advocating this psychology, just noting the differences.

Quite honestly I dont think I would do that catwalk thing anymore either, but there was a time when I would have ;) :)

What did I write that would indicate I think the liability of your behaviour is NOT placed squarely on your shoulders? I simply commented that it appeared there was no safety equipment....I didn't say "someone else" should be responsible for that.

I am the poster child for personal responsibility, and I have no problem with people being able to choose to go walking/climbing on that site...but I can still note the lack of what I would consider reasonable safety features. Separate issue.:)

Afternoon LMTC,
I was just trying to make a point about how the mentality is different in other countries. I apologize if I sounded like I was putting words into your post that were not there ! I didnt disagree with your safety assessment, just thought I would add the way it is in other places. :)

BTW, maybe I shouldnt have used the exclamation point after ( on your shoulders.) Maybe that would have had a better tone to my thread.

What I am curious about is why all the padlocks on those chains?
