I'm brand new to this thread. I've got an early 70s 450 Case Crawler/Bulldozer that is having fuel problems and while searching for information I came on your group and thought I join. It will run briefly then dies. Still have some more trouble shooting before I give up and pull the injector pump.

I've fleshed out the profile a little and thanks of the welcomes! Did a little work on the dozer and have figured out that none of the injectors have any return fuel coming from them. Does anyone know if there is a screen or something in the injectors that could be cleaned? I believe they are called pencil injectors.

more than likely, you have some junk in the fuel tank that went in to the fuel filter/water separator(hopefully, you have one) clogging it. look into the tank for anything that is not supposed to be there, too..

Thanks radios1. Already did all of that and cleared the lines. That's how I got to pulling part of the return line off of one of the injectors and realizing that there is no bypass fuel coming from the injectors. Like everyone else I go for the low hanging fruit first. Besides, the issue you're talking about would be more of a fuel starving problem which means it probably wouldn't start and run at all. From what I've learned so far if there is a problem with the fuel return the pump will build up too much pressure and kill the engine.

I'm on this forum because I hoping to find that person who has had a similar problem and has some insight. Thanks again for taking the time to send a response.
