I bought their 18 gauge 2 in 1 nailer stapler and a pack of 18 gauge nails. The nails suck. I had been running hitachie nails for several projects, never had a jam, tried the HF, jammed 3 times in about a dozen nails. Went back to the Hitachi nails and fired about 80 building bee hive frames w/o a jam.

I have one of their "professional" branded 18 ga brad nailers/staplers combo tools I have used for years. I fully took it apart and cleaned it last summer because it was constantly hanging up and misfiring and rebuilt it works again good now, even without its crummy little trigger return spring. Its a purple color tool and came with a plastic blue case...I don't see it listed anymore.

I never had much of the problem with the few brad nails that came with the kit but they ran out I bought some brand called Grip Right a box 5000 wont work worth a crap in the gun without running a file over the heads on both sides...I think they come from HD

Have both Senco and Paslode from my local guy both of them work just fine!

Most times, if it's 'free' it isn't worth anything and/or the quality is in doubt and that apples at any store, anytime but at HF if it's 'free' you absolutely know it's worthless and needs to be 'round filed' before you even leave the store.<snip>
Sounds like an attitude problem to me.
I like their flashlights, especially the blue oval, their tarps and their screwdivers. I've got 5 "workshops" and it's handy to have multiple sets of those items.

Seems others agree they have value.

Now if I only had ONE workshop I wouldn't need all the extra sets.
While I'd agree with you on many free items, these blue oval LED lights really rock. I've yet to have one go bad on me and the batteries are easily replaceable. I carry one in my car, two on my tractor, one in each tool box and have them scattered all over the house.

Portable Worklight & Flashlight - 27 LED Light Flashlight

Agreed. These meet all expectations.

Likewise the small led flashlights and the free multimeters are ok. I have several of the yellow multimeters (superceded 2013?) and all work properly.

The occasional free 5 x 7 tarps and cheap screwdriver sets likewise, they aren't pro grade but are sufficient for casual use.
<snip>

I have a plague of tape measures, blue lights and tarps with a smattering of quarter inch rope around the house and garage. All have their place.

Actually I wouldn't recommend the blue polypropylene rope for general use. (milk bottle plastic). In my experience its too slippery to make a safe knot for trailering, and once there is a knot that point will maintain a kink making it hard to roll up or make another knot. I won't buy that again. I expect this is a generic problem, not specific to HF.

I like the little 10 ft hanks of 'diamond braid' rope. This is a handy size to secure light stuff on a trailer. (use 2 or three). I bought more of these and keep them in the car.

Everything they sell is junk if it will be used long term. Good for the short haul but garbage in the long run. You get what you pay for...
