According to the network news tonight, Colorado is on fire.
Is it near you? Have you heard of the fireproofing stuff you spray on your house for protection from the wildfires?

It seems like something I'd own if I lived in a fire prone area, to go along with the Yanmar driven fire pump and hoses.

Thanks for your concern. Yes, we are working on it every day. Forest fires are a big problem here. We worry about it constantly, but what can you do? I think everything helps.... Gell, water, tree trimming, shrub cutting....best yet would be no fire.I'll look at that gell again. The national news may not mention this, but fire insurance around here is minimal coverage type: (about 25% of structure replacement & nothing on possessions). And even that is not easy to get when you live right in the woods. Our insurance company says the only reason we get the minimum is our standing as an old customer (20 years or more) From whatour agent says, State Farm and others will not write any more farm or rural policies at all around here. Sure wish that they would. Or that someone would...Please email me if you know an answer to this.

Unfortunately, about all you I can do about fires is hope they don't come. And there is some comfort in statistics. Fires are dramatic, but they are not nearly so common as accidents of other types.

As a firefighter, we stress brush/tree clearance as the best protection. Sometimes people don't realize how fast & hot fire can move. If we have to try to protect a structure during one of these fires, we will stick an engine in the driveway and take on the homes we think we can save. And those are usually the ones not buried in brush & trees.
