you helped me how to determine the stroke on a hydraulic cyl.. but i just want to be sure i am correct before ordering,, the retracted length is 20'' the extended length is 32'' so my stroke should be 12'' is this right ?? sorry to ask so much just need some good advice..thanks for the help .bruce

Yes sir, that is correct. I don't know what you are going to use the cylinder for, but measure twice. Make sure the cylinder when retracted, will fit and connect to the item you are attaching, with the attachment at the fully retracted position. Then consider the 12 in stroke, will it be at the position you want when fully extended. You only want that cylinder to be just enough.
