- (B2620, had BX22) Simplicity Legacy w/48" mmm
I am in the process of replacing a Kubota BX22. Though I like orange tractors a lot, Green ones do have some advantages in the mowing, and ground engaging (position control) areas....... and other areas I'm sure. I only have 13 acres, and only finish mow something over three. There are lots of obstacles to mow around, and there is a possibility that I would keep my Simplicity for some duties, but I would really like to have one tractor that did a nice job on everything........ Yah, I've had better dreams too. Material collection is important too, both for leaves, and occasional use on grass. One of the reasons that I'm looking at green is the MCS seems easier ( though not as easy as it could be) to install, and remove than the Kubota unit. I'm looking at both the 2305, and 2320. I do want to run a small chipper, and like the looks of the Wallenstein BX42, so that is a consideration. I have no need to run a rotary cutter any larger than 48", and 42" would be fine on my trails. In the past few years I have spent most of my tractor hours finish mowing, removing rocks ( much easier to mow now) dealing with brush /branches, and removing snow. There are small areas here, and there that I would like to smooth, and reseed, and there are lots of potential opportunities to play in my woods...... though I have time, and don't mind fixing up my logging roads as I go. It looks like the 2320 is the better overall unit for my needs, but I'm concerned about it's suitibility for mowing around all my rocks, and trees, and I'm not crazy about the front mounted implements being narrower than the tractor...... (Hope JD adresses that!) A backhoe is a future possibility, but I am very aware of the use, and limitations of the smaller hoes so don't see an issue with either tractor in that reguard.
Any input, and general ideas on the subject would be appreciated. I would like to be using this thing soon!
(Chris, do you think I should get a 2520???
