Yanmar sc2400
I need some help guys!
I have a 2012 yanmar sc2400. I hauled it on a trailer about 5 miles to do some tilling at a friends house, when I got there my tractor would not go into reverse! It worked fine when loading the tractor on to the trailer but now nothing!
There are only 45 hours on the tractor, I have checked the fluid levels, and the linkage all looks good. it goes fine in forward and there are no unusual noises. all the other hydraulics work fine lifting the FEL and 3 point. the pedal seems to have the appropriate about of resistance both forward and back. the pedal stop is in the same place, and it touches the edge of the opening in the floor anyway so it can't go any further. I am stumped.
Thanks for any help!

Had this happen with my Yanmar YM2610 two months ago. Except, I lost forward and reverse. Trailered it 2-1/2 hours down the road to the dealership. Guess what, all of that bouncing put the parts back into place. It drove just fine ever since. Not sure if you need to retrailer yours OR just lift up the end of the tractor that was upward when loading it.

Odd that with only 45 hours on the meter for this to happen.

I am also having trouble. I was driving forward with my SC2400 and was pulling a doghouse out of the snow, when it was time to go backwards I had lost my reverse.
I have forward like normal with full speed and no weird sounds etc, the reverse petal seems different almost like it is missing tension. I also do not have any fluid leaks.
I read somewhere about the HST lever but cannot find where that is.

Did you read the links in the previous posting yet?

Not sure if the SC2400 has a hydraulic filter screen that needs to be cleaned. Typically that is what Yanmar tractors have.

If the tractor goes forward then the hydraulic pump is working just fine.

My fix was just plain weird. Even after cleaning the hydraulic filter, it would not shift forward or in reverse. BUT, the pump did work. Upon loading the tractor onto a utility trailer up the rear deck ramp and back down later, the problem had corrected itself. The dealer service tech mentioned that something must of jarred the problem loose to shift normally again. That was months ago without any re-occurring issues.

Sounds like your reverse check valve went out. If you check with your local dealer you should be able to get this handled under warranty.

Here are some additional documents. If you have a problem viewing the pdf files in this thread you can save the files to whatever device your viewing this thread on. It seems there might be an issue with these links going through viglink and then to the file.

This is the issue that I just ran into, bad reverse check valve. I just had the reverse go out on my SC2450...stopped in at the dealer and before I could finish describing what happened, the service guy said he knew what the issue is.

Apparently there was a batch of the check valves that were manufactured such that the crimp designed to keep the check ball in place let the ball escape.

I take mine in tomorrow, they said they should be able to fix it in about 30 minutes, that is if they can retrieve the ball from the case with a magnet. If they can't get the ball out with a magnet, they have to go a little deeper. He did say of the fixes they have done, only in one case were they not able to get the ball out with a magnet from the topside.

Just thought I'd put this up here for anyone else searching for troubles with losing reverse on their SC2400 / SC2450...

Just to add to this, it may be worth checking with your dealer to see if your serial number falls into the range of affected units. It is a very easy and quick fix, especially before the valve breaks apart.

Not sure exactly the year of mine. What I know of it, it was leased to a local nursery in June of last year, and was returned in early fall which is when we bought it with about 90 hours on it.

Yanmar has recently released a "product improvement" for this issue. Your dealer will be contacting you if your SC falls within the serial number range. Otherwise, contact your dealer and he should have information and be able to update your unit.

Have the dealer talk to the service dept at Yanmar, when they had that issue Yanmar replaced the valve with a new & improved style, they should have one,
